I have fallen in love with Carleton's online presence and description, and I will visit as soon as possible. Meanwhile, my only concern is that Carleton doesn't seem to have a strong alumni connection for job opportunities. Great MBA schools require job experience, and I would really like to find out if Carleton have the resources to provide a student with jobs.

Glad you’ve fallen in love with Carleton, Woandering! It’s a great school and I hope you enjoy your visit!

While Carleton doesn’t have as many alums (~500 graduates/year) as a bigger school might, Carleton definitely has the resources to help students find internships and jobs. Although we don’t have many alums, the key is that we have very dedicated alums, many of whom are willing to give students tips, point them in the right direction, and even offer them an internship or the what-not with them over school breaks. Students can just use Carleton’s alumni directory and email alums, and most are more than willing to help students out. Carleton’s Career Center is also fantastic for helping students find opportunities. While the career center can do the usual thing of reading over your resume and recommending programs for you, our career center is quite proactive and organizes externships (where you can have a homestay with an alum and basically shadow him/her for a week or so during breaks) as well as 30 Minutes (where you can sit with or Skype with an alum and have a one-on-one talk about his/her field).

The point is that Carleton does indeed have a strong alumni network. Feel free to explore the Career Center site here – https://apps.carleton.edu/career/

@thehangingtree Thank you so much. I just checked out the job postings, and it definitely looks like there’s a lot going on. You truly just kept Carleton on my list of colleges. It looks like I have nothing to worry about.

No problem! I’m glad I could help and I hope to see you here next year! :)
