I would like to know about the work opportunities, particularly internship, at Carleton. I know that Carleton is located just about 45 minutes away from the Twin Cities, but how many of Carleton students take advantage of the proximity to the city for work opportunity?

I was thinking that I need to go to a school where I can work somewhere nearby during the summer or other breaks(not just any work, but career-oriented) but is that a common thing for Carleton? If not, do students choose to go elsewhere or home?

P.S. This is my older sister's username, so please do not be confused with the ID's older threads.

Well, my niece and her roomate both got internships in the Twin Cities, but I realize that's not a very helpful answer. The Career Center has info

The Career Center is reorganizing and one of the major efforts underway is to get alums engaged in that facet. As you probably know, there's a strong Alumni Admissions program (providing info and local interviews throughout the country) and also alumni giving is huge at Carleton. Now that the networks are being created there will be even more ways to find internships, jobs, housing, etc.

Also, once you've selected a major there will be opportunities through your department.
Hope this helps.
