I hear people always talking about a school’s alumni network and how it’s good for jobs. What exactly is this (official?) and how does this affect job opportunities? And how would you use it? Thanks for your help!

The alumni network is very strong. Through clubs, organizations, speakers, etc you'll meet alumni who will want to help you since they went through the same thing.

When recruiting, the recruiters usually are recent graduates of Wharton so that will give you an advantage over another school.

I'm involved in two fairly selective Wharton organizations and they both host alumni dinners for the members to meet the alumni, socialize, and yes network.

the other awesome thing is that Penn has a database of like 8000 alumni, what they majored at Penn, where they went for graduate school, where they work, where they live etc. Then it has their contact information. You can easily contact anyone you want and once you develop a couple good relationships (phonecalls, emails, etc) not only do you learn a lot but its probably easier to find some good internships and of course jobs after graduation.
