One of my kids is an alumnus of one of the major university Talent Search programs and as a part of that took the SAT at age 11 and got a state award. It was no sweat and actually lots of fun for him and his buddies. Stats projections I saw at the time were that someone who got roughly 1200 or so could expect 700+ in verbal and math each, and if you got 650 + in each, possibly 750-800, in each, if taken at the standard junior-senior year time. Any of you early SAT takers out there, how did you do when retaking?

I would like to modify my question to focus on Talent search testtakers who were young for 7th grade, not the normal age, for example age 11 in 7th garde or 12 in 8th grade, and how high up did your scores for re-take in high school go?

I took it in eighth grade grade and got a 1110. I took it in eleventh grade and got a 2120 (1440).

I took the SAT when I was 12 and got a 1090 and got an award from Duke Talent Identification Program. In eleventh grade, I got a 2250 (double 800s on critical reading and writing).

In 7th grade, I got a 1120 (530V, 590M). Last year, as a junior, I scored a 2370 (800CR, 770M, 800W).

7th grade: 1230
8th grade: 1360
9th grade: 1460
10th grade: 1490
11th grade: 2250 (1520)

needless to say i hate the sat now. and im going to sat 2 tests in around 30 mins. :(

also, the talent search thing IS an excellent indicator of the smartest kids in the grade. all of us became national merit semi finalists, and are applying to the most competetive places with grade resumes. yay center for talented youth for helping us out.

the only thing i regret was not taking advantage of the scholarship that was given to me in 8th grade from the program. i just didnt have time, and the school was 2 hrs away from my house.

what type of scholarship?

I'm taking AP pscychology and AP microeconomics next year seperately from my school b/c of the CTY search

I took the ACT in 7th grade and got a 24, in 10th and got a 27, and as a senior and got a 30. All of these were taken without studying. My SAT scores are better, but I have no middle-school-aged comparison.

7th: 1150
8th: 1250
11th (only time i've ever taken the SAT): 2270 (1530)

heh, i doubt the talent search really did anything; those who study hard will get good scores, and then there are those that are naturally awesome at standardized testing (not me). for most people though, if they study hard, they'll do well; otherwise.....well there's always the ACT

The talent search did absolutely nothing....I just woke up early on a Saturday to take some test that I barely understood. Nevertheless....
7th grade - 1050 (500 V and 550 M)
11th grade - 1470 out of 1600 (700 V/770 M) or 2260 total (790 W)

8th grade ACT - 25
11th grade - 35

7th: 890
11th: 1350

Man, why am I stupid, I haven't improved nearly as much as you guys since 7th grade.

7th Grade - 1110
11th Grade - 1960 (maybe SAT just hates me)

7th grade 1050
11th grade 1470

7th grade - 1300
11th grade - 1460 in just CR and Math and 2200 total (retook it today)

7th grade: 700 V, 560 M
11th: 800V, 790M, 800W

Thank god for high school math classes!

Rofl, so I decided to actually look more closely at my score from 7th grade compared to my 11th grade score, it's quite sad really.

7th: 580 V, 530 M
11th: 590 V, 710 M, 670 W

Wow...I've improved 10 full points on CR. And only 190 pts since 7th grade. Haha, I really should retake my SAT but I love ACT too much (and it loves me).

My sons, for the Johns Hopkins CTY and the Washington Search for Young Scholars (hope I got that name right):
