I attended William and Mary but I transferred away half way through, a decision that I have always regretted. The school has considered me an alum ever since then. I have received mail and phone calls over the years, and I have always contributed when they ask for money (in the hundreds each year). W&M still identifies me with the class I would've graduated from if I had stayed (early 80s).

Yet, the common application asks only for graduate date and degree earned. There doesn't seem to be any other way to claim alumni status on the app, or simply to show attendance years.

What do you advise?

Also, is there a way that a person can check to make sure that they have alumni status for the purpose of their child applying? Will the admissions committee be checking this information against the alumni office or against some other source?
