Hi, I applied RD to William and Mary. I always liked the school but kept going back and forth on whether to apply. A day before the deadline, I decided that I definately wanted to and submitted my application. I did not do the supplement essay (will this hurt me?). I never made a campus visit or interview or anything and I'm just wondering if there are any ways now that I can show W&M that I really love the school and want to go. As I research after I submitted my app, I find that it could be the ideal place for me. Any suggestions? Thank you!

W&M actually does not track interest. We assume any student who applies to W&M is interested in attending. We have no idea whether or not an applicant did a campus visit and whether or not they did is not part of our review process. And optional components (like the interview and supplement) are just that. Those who didn’t do any optional component are not disadvantaged.

You’re welcome to send us an email at admission@wm.edu stating your interest in W&M and we can add that to your file but again, we do not track interest so there is no need for you to fear that we’ll think you’re any less interested than any other applicant.

Would it be helpful (i.e. beneficial) to update Admissions on first semester grades, achievements, extra-curriculars, etc.?

To W& Admissions

Hope no one minds tacking on to this thread but in regards to a transfer’s application. Does it favor them if they were waitlisted to WM, went to another fine university, and reapply? Especially if doing extremely well at that school?

I’m pretty sure you are required to send semester grades. At that time, you can include updates on anything else of importance.
