Alumnus Interview Tomorrow

Hi everyone,

I was contacted by a Harvard alum in my area and will be meeting with him tomorrow. I've done two interviews in the past (Haverford, with an alumna, and Skidmore on-campus) and was wondering how this interview will be different. I'm not shy and am very personable, but I do have a bit of a slow time when thinking of an answer to a question I didn't expect, so is there anyone out there who has any insight into what kind of questions to expect?

Thanks very much!

There are bound to be differences between how each alumnus conducts interviews, but there’s no reason to expect it to be any different than the other interviews that you’ve had in my opinion.

I think the only part that may be a little different is that Harvard interviewers tend to ask about standardized test scores and high school courseload some time during the conversation. I was told by my interview back then that that was actually one of the things that was suggested to interviewers to ask about, so don’t be thrown off if you are asked the question :). Other than that, good luck and have fun!

^Ah yes, they did ask me about SAT scores, class rank, and AP test scores. My interviewer said that Harvard makes them ask even though he knows it’s awkward.

Oh alright! That shouldn’t be a problem. :] Thanks!
