Am i a first gen?

my parents both became doctors out of the country and were raised somewhere else and did their residencies here. my dad ended up doing a fellowship. would that count as an education?

Let’s see. Would being a doctor require an education? Is that really your question? You are not first gen.

i know that but they didn’t receive there medical education here.

Assuming that they were doctors in a civilized country, they probably got a medical education, which means that you are not the first generation to go to college. The U.S. doesn’t have a monopoly on colleges.

You are not first generation. YOUR parents are educated. It doesn’t matter if they got their degrees in India, China, France, Russia or Mexico. It’s like asking if your parents have money. You can’t say no just because it is not in a US bank.

Nice analogy, shopping.

You are not a first generation college student. Unless your parents attained absolutely no professional degree, you are considered a second generation college student. Doctors require a hefty education that isn’t limited to countries. Medicine is about health, which is universally applied anywhere.

Good luck with admissions.
