<p>Both my parents have been to community college (2-year) but neither received their degrees. So would I be considered a 1st gen student?
Does that account for just your immediate family or are you not 1st gen if you have relations that have been to college?</p>

<p>Usually you don’t have to think about this. Most applications will just ask you your parents level of education (hs, some college, 4 yr etc) Then they will determine if they consider you first gen and if you get any special consideration. Only your parents matter for such consideration.</p>
