Am I a good fit for jhu?

I am very serious about grades and will do whatever I can to get good grades.
I like bein around smart people who work hard and are helpful at the same time. I really want that envirornment where people will sit around and help each other out for chem.
I am very artsy and have great appreciation for creativity.
I want to be a doctor. If that doesn't work out, then something creative and stable. (Hence not a freelance artist)
I am attracted to jhu's writing seminars and prestige in research.
Dorm quality is important to me. I am a bit spoiled and I don't want to sleep in a dirty old building (only being honest)
I also don't really like going out at night.. Freaks me out.
I want to participate in the school newspaper. Is jhu's paper well organized?
I want to major in cog sci/anthro/writing seminars.

…maybes… …

@eunhyuk: Stop posting silly posts on the JHU board. It’s getting annoying.

@OP: I’m only a freshman, and this is my first month here, but I really feel that JHU is all that you described! I’ve met all these really brilliant/creative/driven people from all majors, and they are NOT cutthroat at all. Like seriously, they always help me when I need help. I always do homework every week with classmates, and there’s always the PILOT program which gives you a fixed group, with a student leader, and you’ll meet every week to go over problem sets.

Writing sems and anthro and cog science are really respectable here. I’m taking IFP (a writing sems course) and it is SO MUCH FUN. You can really write anything and everything, and you’ll have your classmates workshop your works together. From orientation, it’s also been emphasized that research here is a big deal, and you will get a research opportunity if you look for it. Advising here is splendid, so you’ll get what you want.

And boy - I think you’re at the right place for dorm quality. I personally feel the AMRs look pretty and the rooms look nice too, though maybe the hallways may seem old. The Buildings are ADORABLE and Wolman (my dorm) is brand new and gorgeous. Also, it was once the apartment where Fitzgerald lived in (what more can you ask for?) I usually don’t go far at night but I know people who do (to frat parties, etc) and they’re fine as long as they travel in big groups.

I honestly think it’s the right fit for you! Go for it!

^I think Accioknight means that Wolman has been recently renovated for it certainly is not brand new. F. Scott Fitzgerald lived there about 80 years ago :)
