Am I a terrible person? (Fantasy College Draft)

Copied from another thread, originally posted by mikenthemaddog66:

"So 3 other CCers from my high school and I combined our two favorite hobbies of the moment: fantasy football and college admissions. We have held a fantasy college draft, where we drafted member of our high school class in hopes that the members of our team get into better colleges than the members of other teams. So here’s how it works.

1) We had 6 rounds (we go to a non-competitve public school, so you don’t want to have too many rounds).
2) Scores will be determined by the highest ranked school on the USNEWS 2007 National University rankings that each member of the team gets into.
3) Lowest total score wins.
4) A matriculation bonus of -1 is given to a member of your team that attends the highest ranked school they get into. (ex. If your first pick gets into princeton ED, then the score is 0 points, not 1 point. If they get into U Chicago and dont attend its 9 points, if they do its 8)
5) If a member of you team gets into a LAC or a Masters U or any college that isn’t on the national rankings, relative SAT score will be considered. (ex. Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology would be the equivalent of a 40 or thereabouts)
6) Draft order is determined randomly and will be conducted snake style (last person to pick in the first round has first pick in the second round ect.)
7) Winner recieves cash prize. "

I am in this league and i have a sneaking suspicion that it was a terrible thing to do. Drafting our classmates’ futures. But it feels so good!

Any Thoughts? Want to do it at your school?

Thats An Amazing Idea!!!!

btw, how r u doing in ur fantasy leagues? right now im first place in my money league and moving into the playoffs... it was kinda led by bulger holt and jackson yea, i have all three and then ronnie brown, and all are kinda sucking now cept jackson... but i pulled an incredible move for brees right before he went crazy cowboys+driver for brees and at least ive got crumpler and the pats d...

I have one win in mine. I completely forgot about it, and then alexander and mcnabb get injured. I love the drafting idea, but it gets a little cheap when I know who several of the recruited athletes and connected kids are, so 1900s will get into Yale and Harvard.

well those r ur sleeper picks...

8-5, 5th seed in playoffs which start this week, got bulger and jackson too but never start a qb against DA BEARS!!!! goin with romo this week but sticking with sjackson...he rules

My team is a juggernaut, even with the loss of McNabb.
Receivers: Holt, TO, Roy Williams.
RB: LT, Deuce M. (I got deuce in the 14th round and he has been great since LaMont Jordan screwed me.)
Now i need to find a QB, bc Farve isnt cutting it

i hate lamont jordan what a loser....my 2nd and 3rd picks were jordan and (drumroll) rueben droughns of the amazing cleveland browns (i still made the playoffs cuz im the shiznit

its favre

pick up cutler and garcia... both should be decent the rest of the way

cutler? lol u do know hes on the broncos right? sorry but if some1 is even thinking about jay cutler, your seasons already over

I am thinking about Garcia. But i am an eagles fan, so double agony when he does bad. Hes the best out there though.

look at cutlers schedule the rest of the way.. its cake in terms of pass defenses... and if his only option is favre he needs to reach for help

awww male bonding!!! :D
lol

go with garcia...hopefuly hell do good since i got stallworth and his one handed catches for 50 yards

garcia is a vet with not much upside... u kno ur never getting another 300 yd 3td game out of him... cutlers a rook with upside and an easy schedule and javon walker>>>>>donte stallworth...

westbrook, reggie brown, and lj smith....im sorry but steven alexander isnt exactly on my fantasy team

btw, with the fantasy college draft...

i think u have to divide the number by 2... otherwise theres way too much variation... one person on your team of 6 or 7 can drop you out... that shouldnt happen... plus if there are only like, 4 kids going to a top 10 college, then youve gotta make it so that theyre lesser outliers

westbrook vs bell^2... plus bell^2 doesnt have injury baggage and they get a change of pace... ill take bell^2

reggie brown is garbage and at best hes not better than rod smith

lj smith doesnt do much... and now with the less mobile garcia hes gonna b blocking a lot more

plus denvers d is better, so less pressure on the new qb... and they want to get him XP for the playoffs... hell be getting thirty attempts a game whereas westbrooks gonna b the horse for the eagles

I think having the potential for great outliers make it more exciting
One of your top picks could screw you and go to "x state u" (a la LaMont Jordan)
Or a late rounder could get into a top 30 like USC (Marques Colston or Tony Romo)

Paro-- you cannot estimate the value of a nasty Fantasy Football team to a man's ego
