I miss the ACT late registration deadline which is November 20th. Two of the schools I am applying need the ACT (or 2 subject tests etc.), Bryn Mawr and Wellesley. I am going to try and take it standby, but if that doesn't work out, have I completely destroyed my chances for both of these schools?! Please help me, I'm freaking out.

Your chances of getting in without those necessary (emphasis on necessary) tests may be reduced a bit significantly…UNLESS they also accept SAT I scores (do they?) But you haven’t completely destroyed your chances. If your gpa and extra-curriculars are pretty good, then you might be okay.

They need both the SAT I, and either two SAT II’s, or the ACT. I had a 1350 on my SATs which isn’t awful, but isn’t spectacular either.

Is there anything I can do to improve this situation?

If those two schools require the ACT and you don’t provide I then yes you are screwed unless you can fnd a test prior to their app deadline.

Why did you miss the deadlne?

I think you’re screwed. When is the testing deadline? Can you take the January SAT II?

You are not screwed…you will just have to pay a bunch of extra fees for standby. I’ve known several people who did this. Just make sure you go on the ACT website and do EXACTLY what they say for standby. Also, call the ACT and tell them you are going to go standby and ask them which area test locations still have lots of space showing, they will more likely take you. Also, be sure to arrive early on test day. You will be fine. Good luck!
