I am screwed

I'm a junior and took the ACT for the first time last April. I got a 29. Not bad for my first time but obviously nowhere near where I want it to be. I took it again December 14th. I felt like I did awesome. At least a 32. I was so confident and I genuinely thought I did extremely well. I had a dream last night that I got a 35. Woke up today to a 30. I have never been so upset in my life. I have pretty much been a mess all day. I feel like my chances for getting in are screwed. Actually, getting accepted wouldn't be too hard but I NEED to get a full ride. My parents who make about $400,000 a year for whatever reason can't scrape up $50,000 a year. And yeah I know I can take it again but now my confidence is screwed. And if I felt like I did so well this time and got a freaking 30, I doubt next time will be much better. Someone help. I'm screwed and I basically hate my life right now.

a 30 and u hate ur life? I got a freakin 27. ( i took in on dec 15 2013) I prob should die.

cuz 30 is obviously a terrible score…

You’re a junior.

The only full-rides you can expect are ones from schools like Alabama that offer massive scholarships or in-state schools where tuition is lower. If you’re gonna look into more selective colleges, a 30 - even a 32 won’t cut it.

Did you study a lot for the December test? Did you have an ACT tutor? Did you manage your time wisely? If not, then you can take into account all of those things when preparing for your next ACT. I’ve heard that getting a tutor can help A LOT. Also, apply for scholarships NOW, as a junior. It’s never too early to start applying. And don’t just apply for the “easy” ones. Apply for the ones where you might have to actually write an essay because the applicant pool might be a lot smaller. A good ACT score isn’t your only chance to a “full ride.”

Also, notice that you are improving. That’s important. Don’t lose sight of that and don’t give up!

Thanks baileybreanne. I kind of studied…actually the only one I didn’t study for was math which went down 3 points from the first time. I think getting a tutor would be a good idea

There’s a very good chance you can raise it 3-4 points between junior and senior year, that’s what happened to me! And it could also just be a bad test, i took it again in December because i signed up for it before i had gotten my last scores back, and I went down a point! I thought I did better than last time, bad luck just gets you sometimes. All you can do is take it again!
