Hi guys im planning on transferring this fall to UCR and currently i go to University of Arizona. I live and am a resident in california with my parents also which makes me a instate student but since i go to Arizona does that make me an OOS transfer applicant? Or am i still a in state applicant? The reason i ask is because in state students minimum gpa is 2.4, and out of state gpa minimum is 2.8 My gpa is barely 2.8 but i want to try to transfer to UCR and it would help if i was an instate student because the gpa minimum is lower, thanks alot CC community

No, you are not an OOS.

ok sweet, and also can someone tell me why oos students need a higher gpa than in state students? Shouldnt OOS students be good for UC schools because of the higher tuition price for these students?

^^Because, for example, in-state resident’s of California pay taxes that support the UC’s/CSU’s.

oh ok, i can see that reasoning, thanks alot i really appreciate it!

I have another question if anyone can answer please. Im applying as a lower division transfer (sophomore) to UCR and it requires my SAT score and high school gpa, which is fine. I realized that sending SAT subject tests are optional now? Do they not require it for Fall 2012? The reason i ask is because i didnt do too hot on my subject tests, and i think this will favor if i didnt send them. I dont think i need them either because my major is Linguistics, Thanks
