Hey all,
Some universities define first-gen broadly, i.e. parents have never attended college. while others note it as parents have never attended FOUR-YEAR college.
In my case, both my parents have attended college (and graduated) but from a THREE YEAR college.
Should I indicate this in additional info in my common app? and list myself as first-gen where asked?
The point of 1st gen really is to suss out another intersection of class privilege with the aim of admitting more from disadvantaged classes so they may become upwardly mobile. It sounds like you have college educated parents, but the program in your country was 3 years, and thus you would not be considered 1st gen.
Thanks for the clarification.
