Like this is gonna be my final report card.

Honors Physics - C
AP Calculus BC - B-
AP Italian - A
AP Economics - A
US History II - B-
AP English - C+
AP Government and Politics B+

I probably got mostly 5s though on the AP exams

My question is that as a full Hispanic applicant do I have a shot if
I get straight A+ in the following schedule on my mid year report:
AP Euro
AP Chem
AP Art History
AP US History
AP English
Modern Philosophy

As well as an A in Multivariate Calculus and Differential Equations over the summer.

During the school year I will take Linear Algebra, Urban Politics, and Urban Economics at a local college. Assume I get an A in all those

Sophomore and Junior year were Straight As in most rigorous schedule

If you didn’t do so well your junior year, what makes you think that you will pull off all A’s next year and all A’s during your summer classes and a 2350 on your SAT?

After you complete your first semester of senior year and after all your classes and after the SAT then post again asking for chances.

I slacked off junior year, too, and had similar grades in Physics B and BC Calc. I worked my ass off this year, though, with A+'s in 7 AP’s and was accepted. You’ve got a shot, but you’d better have phenomenal recommendations and a ****load of fantastic extracurriculars (I had three solos at carnegie hall and an international violin competition within 18 months, which were probably my saving graces).

gwathelien, did you have any contact with the music department before you applied (i.e. met with the orchestra conductor, sent in a tape, etc.)? If so, then I’m not sure how applicable your comeback is to the OP, remarkable as it is.

are there any special circumstances that led to your grades slipping? you might want to have your guidance counselor explain those if there are any.
another factor will be what other kids who had the same teacher as you have in the class. if another kid in your class applies to harvard, had the same teacher as you for the same subject, and got an A, then thats really really bad for you. so hope that doesn’t happen.
getting straight A’s in all those other classes will definitely show that you know how to bounce back. and the 2350 SAT will help also. but like other people said, the extracurriculars will have to totally pwn.

how much of an impact does your midyear report have, anyway?

i’m sorry to say, but junior year is the MOST IMPORTANT year. You can probably get away with a not-so-stellar performance freshman, but not for junior year. Ur supposed to have ur best grades junior year, so you need to have a good explanation for why ur grades slipped big time.
