Hi, I'm going to be a sophomore in the fall and I have no APs under my belt and I won't sophomore year either. I'm starting at a new school as well. Here is my freshman year schedule along with my sophomore schedule:

Freshman:
Honors French 2
Honors Biology
Honors English 9
Honors Geometry
Ancient Medieval History (Spring Term)
PE
Concert Band

Sophomore:
English
Chemistry
French
Math 22T/Matt 230/Math 310 = Algebra 2
Precolonial African History (Fall)/ Photography I (Winter)/ New Testament (Spring)

My new school offers no AP courses but offers courses that parallel AP courses. European History is the only standard class that parallels APs. There are also no honors courses. Will this have an effect on my college chances? Thanks!

The rigor of your schedule is viewed in the context of your school - you aren’t going to be penalized for not taking classes that your school doesn’t offer you.

^ Agreed per above. I took no APs my sophomore year as well. I believe your guidance counselor can explain this in his or her school report and the recommendation. Do well in those courses and you will be fine. If you are not feeling challenged enough, you could self study for some SAT 2s or AP tests if you feel that you have a good grasp of it outside of the classroom. Alternatively, you could take some CC classes to show your mastery. If not, don’t worry about it as students are viewed in the context of their peers not to all the people that apply.

Most students don’t take APs until junior year. You are also viewed in the context of your school. You’re fine.

You’ll be attending one of the most rigorous, and well-known school in the country, I hardly think that not being offered AP’s is going to hurt you if what you’re taking is the advanced courses. ;)

Thanks everyone so much for answering these questions regarding my concerns in such a timely manner! After hearing what you had to say, I feel like I am in a much better position than I thought :)
