Am I International? Please HELP!

What I don't have: A Green Card

My Situation:
Permanent Residency Approved
Paperwork Pending
I have an A#
I have a SSN
I'm legally working for an university (This is allowed since I moved on from my H-4 Visa to apply for residency)
I do not hold a Visa because i'm in the AOS (adjustment of Status) phase.

From what I gathered, I'm considered as domestic for academic reasons, international for aid. Is this right? All of my secondary education has been in the U.S.

But how in the world am I supposed to fill out the Common App? It assumes that I have a Visa if I apply as an int'l. It also assumes that I'm a green card holder if I have an A#...

Help!

Since you have an approved permanent residency and a Social Security, you are considered an US citizen and you will considered in the domestic freshmen pool for everything ranging from aid to admissions.

Congratulations on achieving the adjustment from the H-4. Not everyone manages that transition!

Until you have your green card in your hot little fist (or at least the stamp in your passport saying that it has been approved and the card is in the mail), you are AOS and need to let the colleges know that. Find a place to attach a note in the application. Don’t be afraid to email the admissions officers and ask how/where to include this information! They’ve handled this problem before.

The second that your paperwork is finalized you can email the colleges with the news and move your financial aid application from the international pile to the domestic pile.

You may want to get in touch with b@r!um who posts on the International Student Forum. She’s been through the transition to a green card herself, and may have some specific advice for you.

I think if you have your permanent residency APPROVED, then you are considered domestic. Is it just that you haven’t received your green card yet but it’s being sent?

The annual quota for green cards is building a backup of approved applications. It’s unlikely that I will receive my green card in time.
