anyone? anyone?

Chicago and Columbia seem huges reaches, given your stats, though the upward trend in grades would be favorably noticed. You keep saying that you are expecting certain scores on tests. Expecting is NOT having, and saying you WILL have them is kind of irrelevant now. As you don’t currently have them. You should re-chance when you actually have the scores you are projecting.

Having said this does not mean you would absolutely not get into Chicago or Columbia. It does not mean you should not apply. These are both schools where essays matter, in fact, and this you should take into account. However, taking your stats as they actually ARE, and ignoring meaningless projections, these two schools will be high reaches for you. Not impossible, but… If Chicago and Columbia are dream schools, well…you have every right to dream and reach.

So, work on grades and scores. Check also with your school’s Naviance site for the stats of others from your high school who applied to these colleges, especially Michigan, Purdue and UIUC. If your stats are on the low side of the middle accepted range for Michigan, Purdue and UIUC, you will need to work on identifying more schools where your stats are a real match.
