Am I making a mistake?

I'm taking AP Government as a Junior, although it is originally a Senior class at my school.
Also, I'm taking AP Chemistry, AP Psychology, and the mandatory (or at least mandatory in my own thoughts) AP US History, all in the same year.

Can someone please give me advice about any of these classes if you've taken them? Including the books (so far I have Princeton Review for all four classes,) the work load, AP Tests, and SAT II's?

Thank You. :)

Psych and Government are super easy. I don't think you'll have many problems with those classes.

Chemistry is a bit harder, but it depends on the teacher. Our teacher gave us 5-10 assignments a DAY, which SUCKED . . . HARD. It took forever to get them done, and it didn't help that he didn't teach us how to do them at ALL during class. Chemistry is the hardest AP class at our school because of our teacher, but other kids here say it's easy, so it will depend on what you get.

AP US History shouldn't be too bad. It's a LOT of reading, which can be really boring, but as long as you get through the material and understand it, it's not too bad.

I think that many people are afraid of going into a rigorous junior year, after a relatively easy sophomore year, but we all manage to get through it.

Classes are different for each school, so we cannot really tell you about workload; it all depends on your teachers. As for the AP tests, 4 isn't too many, so you should have nothing to worry about. Psych is one of the easiest AP tests, and gov is not much harder. Chem is kind of hard, but not if you are well prepared. And APUSH is a a bunch of memorization and good essay writing.

Thank you both so much. :]

I heard that the Barron's book is much better for psych?

Gov and Chem - PR
Psych - Barrons
USH - AMSCO

not a terrible idea or a mistake. think of it as good initiative. put in the work and it is definitely possible. I'm the only kid at my school in as long as anyone can remember to be ahead of the track schedule (did govt/econ junior year, apush sophomore, french 4 junior... etc)

You should be fine -- it seems easy enough. I think it would be a waste of money for you to get any study materials for government, apush, psychology, or chemistry. The AP Tests for all of them are rather simple. That being said, I managed to cram for chemistry and government off the Kaplan books the day before the test, and I did well.

I never took the SAT II for Chemistry, but from all my friends who did, they said it was much easier than the AP test. I took the SAT II for USH, it was just like the AP Test MC.

As to the class load, it all matters on how legitimate your AP program is. My AP gov't class, for instance, covered only the 27 amendments in 2 semesters. My AP Chem class gave me little homework. However, I'd imagine a legit. program would be more challenging (though not 10 assignments a night -- that's excessive).

Ultimately, your class load seems pretty simple -- you should be fine :)

Hmm thanks a lot everyone. :)

Hopefully I'll do fine this coming year.

By the way, AMSCO is the AP USH review bible.
It is, by miles, the best review book for the test. It also helps AMAZINGLY with the class.
As said above, PR is good for gov.

One tip: Take ALL SATII's RIGHT after the class/AP test!!! June is a very popular date. If you have already taken classes in years past on subjects you want to take an SATII on, review for it and take it this year - DON'T wait for senior year.

I waited a year after APUSH to take SATII us history - I did really well, but there was a lot of unnecessary studying. I could have done it all before.

i actually think you should take the SAT 2's in May. it's usually the Saturday right before the AP weeks. you have to study for APs anyways, so why not just study onces for two tests. June test date is ok, but you will not feel like studying after 2 weeks of AP exams.

i have taken AP chemistry and the subject test. the subject test is MUCH MUCH easier than the AP exam. if you take AP chemistry (and do well in the class), you should get 750+ on the subject test without any studying, in my opinion.

It depends on the person. I felt only natural, actually, studying after AP exams. I was so much in that mode that I just went right on the SATII's haha..
