Because of all my teachers, I've finally started to look into what colleges I want to go to, and I want to try for USC and for film. I'm a sophomore in high school, with 1 honors class, and I mainly make all A's. Judging by the research I did before I signed up for this website, I'm going to have to go for higher classes in order to get into USC. I am in the top orchestra class (cello, but don't want a career out of it), English 2 (not honors, didn't take English 1 honors last year), I'm in Geometry (not honors), health, Biology 1 (not honors), World History Honors, and Spanish 1. I have a feeling I need to step it up if I want to shoot for USC. What do you think?

It is definitely a wonderful thing that you want to kick it up a notch and work harder, but it will take a lot of work in order for you to be competitive in the USC application pool. You seem to be quite determined which is step #1 for essentially everything. Ask the counselors if you can switch into any honors/AP courses (though it is probably too late in the year now but maybe at semester?), and your junior and senior year be sure to take as many rigorous courses as possible. And don’t forget to study for the ACT and SAT! Best of luck to you :)

Thanks for the input. I might be able to switch classes at the beginning of the new semester, but I’m definitely planning on at least increasing my honors classes (and maybe taking some AP) next year. I am studying for the SAT.
