As a High School freshman, am I on the right path?

I go to one of the top public high schools in my state, and my school is really pressuring us to start thinking about college.

The classes I am taking this year are:
Hon Algebra 2
PE/HEALTH
Spanish 3
Hon World History
Chorus
Hon Biology
Hon English 9

Next year I am taking:
Hon Geometry
Spanish 4
AP U.S. History
Hon Chemistry
A.P. Euro History
Chamber Choir
Hon English 10

These past 3 semesters my grades were:
BAAAAAC (This is only because I transferred in the middle of the year.)
AAAAAAA
AAAAAAA

I am going through a nasty divorce with my parents and haven't been able to do much curricular activities but this year I have joined a community theatre group and am in the All-State Chorus as well as Key Club.

Am I on a good path? Are there some things I should take into notice and is the first semester of mine going to affect my GPA a lot in the future?

Well, if you’re looking at colleges and thinking about it, you’re on the right path. I wish I did. Really, 1 C won’t kill you with those grades and you’re have plenty of time to join clubs. I recommend you trying a sport some time, though. It’s absurd, but if you can help out their sports teams, colleges will love you for it. And does your school have YUGA? If not, great, because if it’d look great if you were the founder, or some other community service that is meaningful to you. Good luck with your search/future. : )

you need extracerecular activities and start volunteering asap!!! also, start looking for competitions you can do, and leadership positions. think about opening a club. go to commonapp and look at the college application so you have a good idea of what it looks like and what you should at least have. make connections with teachers. gpa & scores won’t help you much if you don’t have other stuff (this is more toward more selective colleges; top 30). also, start contacting colleges, and show interest, and visit. that count too. also, start studying for the sat/act (find out which is beter for you). the ACT is much easier so if you do decide to do it, start taking it the middle of 10th grade. the sooner you start, the more chances you have. I can’t stress how important it is to start early. go to the library and check out books about college admission. DO IT!!! 2 years from now, you will be glad that you did the things listed above :)
