<p>Me: A female; high school sophomore; caucasian</p>

<p>Test:</p>

<p>I am planning to complete all science/math/social study based test, and maybe Spanish AP and Latin AP out of the foreign languages.</p>

<p>Scored a 5 on AP Bio, AP Chem, AP European History, AP US History, AP World History, AP Human Geography, AP Environmental Science, Statistics, and AP Psychology.</p>

<p>EC:
Internship at Zoo (50 hours a week)
Soccer (1 Year, but I'm already one of their best for the team, so I should advance quickly. Pure luck)
Herpetology (I care and breed 60 reptiles/amphibians)
FIRST Robotics Program
Volunteer at Animal Shelter (As a Special Volunteer - To help improve the program)
FFA Member
4-H Member of 8 Years
Homeless Shelter Volunteer</p>

<p>Arts:
I play violin, do a little photography, and some writing. I internship with a management company.</p>

<p>My current goals revolve around making a quiz bowl team for a few competitions, but besides that, I really don't have the time for new clubs. I spend A LOT of time at my internship at the Zoo, because I was so lucky to have them change their rules for me (I'm the youngest they have by 6 years). It is a great position. And I spend most of my time available towards academic pursuits or my other clubs. </p>

<p>I have many test I need to take and then pass, plus I want to do the national quiz bowls or test in scientific subjects and WIN XD. </p>

<p>I'm looking at all these other chances, and I suddenly feel worried. I don't have nearly as much impressive awards or feats. I'm don't speak five languages nor did I play on the olympic squash team. I barely survive sports, besides soccer (pure luck). I don't do debate team. I don't have ten amazing clubs. I haven't been hired as the president's assistant. I did not fix Steven Hawking's chair and then get him to write a recommendation letter for me.</p>

<p>(I'm exaggerating for comical purposes in the above paragraph)</p>

<p>I want to double major in physics and biology. If I can, I would like to triple major in Physics, Engineering and Biology. I LOVE animals... but I also go to the whole other spectrum of science and obsess over physics/engineering. I had 4 periods freshman year, nearly back to back, all about physics and engineering. I brought a shelf for my stuff, so I didn't have to carry THREE bags and brought in a chair with my name on it, ha ha! </p>

<p>Is there anything I should add or work on over the course of high school to improve my chances? My dream school is MIT. I have a few legacies at Yale, Cornell and MIT.</p>

<p>P.S. I hope my grammar isn't totally off, I recently suffered a concussion (don't ask, ha ha), and I have been having difficulty finding grammar mistakes. Please forgive me.</p>

<p>… Your APs are quite impressive in a scary way! Listen, you’re only a sophomore so Don’t Worry! If you really want to WIN as you stated, then WIN. There’s only one way, I’m sure you know, and that’s hard work. It’s not the smartest who win, but those who put in the effort. You seem earnestly passionate in the sciences, so I say be Lopsided and push it to the maximum you possibly can. Compete in olympiads and study up for quizbowl, or whatever you want. You have time. Just take it one step at a time though and make sure you love what you do, because it’s not worth it if you don’t.</p>

<p>Realistically, the weirder you are the better. Highly selective schools will look at your application, assuming u continue on ur current path, and think, this girl is unlike anyone ive every seen. I think you have a very solid chance. One thing to consider however, is that playing sports isn’t that big of deal. Colleges just want you to be busy, preferably doing something you are passionate about and its obvious you are passionate about animals. Also, taking that many AP’s is great, just dont burn yourself out now, Junior and Senior are the big years. Also, if ur taking that many AP’s now, what will you be taking in the upcoming years? I assume that ur school will run out of AP’s eventually. Do well on SATs. Like really well. Utilize ur legacy at Yale, they dig that. Lastly, dont worry about being profound on ur essays. Tell your story. Do it well, but dont try to wow them. Big words and fancy syntax aren’t always good. Shakespeare said it best, “Brevity is the soul of wit.”</p>

<p>About my future courses, my school is not sure what they are going to do with me, lol. I already was kicked out of an AP class this year because I ended up teaching… The teacher recommended I switch to more physics this year, so I plan on doing that. I already know the teacher really well, because I am in that room for most of the day. </p>

<p>My school might try to throw me in more English classes, because that is the only class I’m in my actual grade. I HATE IT! It is so stupid! All we do is write stories then read stupid books. THEY MADE WE WASTE HOURS READING TWILIGHT! TWILIGHT!!! A waste of time. I know how to write. I don’t need to do it every day. I am running out of great stories. And I do not do “average” because it isn’t in my nature. And it is the only teacher who hates me. She hates science. She told me that because I do science, I can’t do language arts. </p>

<p>I might just do my own independent study. To be honest, I want to finish all my college work by high school graduation, so I can just fly by. Crazy and impossible? Yes, but hey, can’t a girl dream?</p>

<p>And I agree, hard work is SO important. I always hate it when people are like, “Well, you are smart, I’m not, so I can’t do as well as you ever,” and I usually reply, “No, I read and study. But thanks for the intent.”</p>

<p>haha just stick with your dreams! English is, in my opinion, both the best and the worst class. Most of it tends to be a load of BS, but there are moments in this year’s English class where I’ve actually enjoyed it. So to answer your question, I think you are on the right track. Can’t chance you though since you’re only a sophomore.</p>

<p>I’m glad you do well and enjoy English! I wish I had better luck with the class. I feel like I have this invisible sign only readable by English Teachers that reads, “KILL HER” lol!</p>

<p>Well English teachers are notoriously bad. But part of the reason that English class exists is to test how good you are at adapting to the BS, if you know what I mean. Subjectivity can can really ridiculous and just plain unfair sometimes, but that’s all part of the game :&lt;/p>

<p>Am I understanding this right? You took 9 AP exams as a freshman and got all 5’s? If true, that would make you a freshman National AP Scholar and close to unique in the entire country.</p>

<p>My son took 8 APs his sophomore year (4 self-studied) but only got 5’s on 6 of them; he missed becoming National AP Scholar by one point. The prior year there were only 19 students nationwide who earned the National AP Scholar award as a sophomore. Adcoms were impressed that he took on the challenge, despite his miss.</p>

<p>About the scholar thing, I didn’t even know about it. I usually just study my head off then find out my score. I was registered under two different names (parents divorced; my mom used her maiden name. I was too tired to complain or notice), so that might have something to do with it…?</p>

<p>I remember when I was a sophmore, I’d never heard of AP classes, let alone thought about college. Now I’m crossing my fingers for Princeton next month. Take your time. Enjoy high school and your friends, because where ever you go, it gets harder.</p>

<p>Also, as an athlete myself (XC and track), there’s no such thing as pure luck. My coach always reminds us that, yes, to be a “good” athlete you must have the genetics, but to be “great” you must put everything you have into the workouts and races.</p>

<p>You should have automatically received a certificate in the mail from AP a month or two after the test results came out. If you were registered under two different names, you should try to get them merged. How did you deal with the test scheduling conflicts? My son had 3 conflicts (two different tests at the same time) and the make-up opportunities are very limited.</p>

<p>You certainly don’t sound like a ■■■■■ – your posts are generally too intelligent and your ECs are just too distinctive and quirky for someone to have made them up on the fly. Breeding reptiles? No ■■■■■ would ever come up with this!</p>

<p>If the above is true, you are very likely to get in everywhere you apply: your background is just too darn interesting for you to get rejected!</p>
