Am I On the Right Track?

Hello all, thank you very much in advance for your comments and help. I just wanted to know if I am on the right track if I want to be accepted into a six or seven year medical program, or just a good 4 year college.

As good of a variety and number of AP classes as my school allows, diverse and enough SAT II's, strong extracurriculars, science activities, community Service, some awards as well.

*(Any recommendations on when to take SAT I's and SAT II's?)
*
(Any recommendations on what to do during summer to 12th Grade?)

THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! =)

Also, I play tennis outside of school

Unblemished school record, apparently. But isn't it too soon to make any conclusions? Just do your best and I think you are fine (euphemism)
I would take the SAT spring and summer junior year.

You're looking good. Like Ky-anh Tran said, take the SAT during spring and summer junior year. If you don't get the grade you want then, you still have time to take it in the fall of senior year (try to do it on or before the October date).

If you can, I would start shadowing doctors in the summer before your senior year.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read and comment on my post. Also, thanks for the great advice.

I appreciate it.

Does anybody have any suggestions regarding science fairs or science programs that a student can do? Of course, preferably inexpensive. Has anyone competed in some kind of science competition like Siemens or Intel?

do the siemens. it'll help you a lot, not only for college admins but also for your personal intellectual curiosity.
my friend's friend won it and my other friend was a semi-finalist and now she's going to MIT.

What about the smaller, perhaps state science fairs that one should do before the big Siemens, or Intel?

Just a heads-up:

You are at the regular pace for math and science at most schools. Since you're probably going to be doing a science major, you should take AP science courses in your junior year so it shows that you're interested in a science career. Of course, I would NOT recommend you take Honors physics out of your schedule.

Why are you taking AP Lang and Eng honors? Drop one of the two along with Phys Ed if you can (you took it every year? is this required by the school?).

So try and drop 2 classes to take AP bio or AP chem in your junior year.

I don't know but taking all the APs science junior year will make it more likely to forget it for college. Taking 1 or 2 APs science is enough I think. Sth like AP Bio and AP chem is enough.

Stop spamming these forums please.

Well, my school does not offer any AP classes to 11th grades besides US History 2 Honors. Basically, I am doing the most rigorous courses my school offers. I learned that colleges are informed about what the high school offers and they compare a student's transcript with this information. That my school does not offer that many AP's, should not be a problem. Thanks for you advice.

Does anyone know about any volunteer awards besides the Presidential Service Award?

There is the Prudential Spirit of Community Award (<a href="http://www.prudential.com/community/spirit/awards/%5B/url%5D">http://www.prudential.com/community/spirit/awards/</a>) available for volunteer service. It is extremely competitive though. You have solid volunteer numbers, but the winners of this award usually are people who have started creative non-profit organizations and similar projects. Check it out though and see if it'd be worth your time to apply for. You can always check out AmeriCorps too (<a href="http://www.americorps.org/)%5B/url%5D">http://www.americorps.org/)</a>.</p>

Definitely try and participate in as many smaller, state and local science fairs. It will be great experience for you as well as a resume builder for larger, national competitions.

As for your tests, PSAT in October 2007, SAT I in March 2008 and June 2008 (you can take it again in October 2008 if you'd like). As for SAT II's, is there a reason you are taking so many? Most colleges these days, if they even ask for subject tests, only require 2 and at most 3. Regardless of how many you take, they will see all of your test scores when you submit them. If you do plan on taking all of those, then move your last three all to either June or October 2008 so you can take the SAT again if you want since you can't take the SAT Reasoning and Subject tests on the same day.

Has anyone done the NJ Summer Science Academy @ Robert Wood Johnson...I just found out I got accepted and want to know if it is "meaty" enough...u do research and also attend seminars, etc. Plz. let me know ASAP...decision has to be made pronto. Thx,
