Am I on track for good colleges?

I'm a sophomore in high school and I've been putting a fair amount of thought into colleges. Right now, my top schools would have to be UCLA, Carnegie Mellon, Johns Hopkins, George Mason University, UC Irvine, RIT, Texas A&M, and University of Texas Dallas.

My interests are computer science, music, math, criminal justice, or forensic science, but I haven't narrowed down a major.

I know that's a large array, and I know that my list will change. The purpose of this is just to make sure that I'm on track so that I have options.

Freshman Year Classes:
H. Literature- A
H. History- A
H. Geometry- A
H. Algebra 2- A-
H. Chinese 1- A
H. Chemistry- B+

Sophomore Year Classes:
H. English- A
AP World History- A
H. Biology- A-
H. Trig/PreCalc- A
AP Chemistry- A-
H. Chinese 2- A

Schedule for next year (Junior Year):
AP US History
AP Physics 1
AP Calculus AB
AP English
H. Chinese 3
H. Environmental Science

These are my SAT scores without any preparation:
Math- 700
Reading- 650
Writing- 620
I'm planning on studying and retaking them in the fall.

Extracurriculars-
Section leader in school jazz band
75+ Community Service hours so far
Section leader in local youth orchestra

Could you tell me if I'm on track for these schools, or maybe even suggest others with the interests I listed?
Thanks!

You’re on track. You will need a better SAT for some of those schools, but you are within the range where good perp can get your SAT where it needs to be. Don’t forget to try the ACT as well, it tends to suit Math/Science people better I have found from personal experience. Looking at your major possibilities, I would actually highly recommend that before taking the SAT again. Once you get the ACT back, then you can retry the better one. There’s no rush. My college prep school did not advise testing until the second semester of Junior year. As you have a much earlier start, you have PLENTY of time.

You’re in a great position, just keep going.

I agree with the above. You seems to have a good range of schools, matches, safeties, and reaches that I think you will be fine. Keep it up and get those SAT scores higher and you will be good. Maybe consider a wider variety of extracurriculars? (unless both of those are extremely time consuming, if so mention that in the app). Unlike most posters on here, you seem to have a great sense of where you are, have a good range, and are headed in a great direction. Plus, you’re only a sophomore, you still have PSATs (making you eligible for scholarships) coming up and you already have a 2000+ You’ll be fine, challenge yourself and do what you enjoy. Good luck!

If you want to do something technology related, perhaps you can try to get an AP science course in there somewhere aside from Physics. Are you Asian? If so, it might be helpful to put AP Bio or maybe AP Chem instead of Chinese since a school will know that you are fluent.

Thank you for your advice. I am not Asian- I am American and need to take a third year of Chinese to fulfill a language requirement at my school. As for science classes, I took AP Chem this year and don’t have a strong interest in Bio.
