Am I Overpacking?

I'm bringing a big stuffed bear, because my friends gave it to me for my birthday and I can't leave it...:)

lol! never heard that one before in these threads.

I love stuffed animals. But I'm only bringing the ones that are on my bed right now - probably like 6 bears, a couple ducks, and 4 beanie babies. :)

And I went through my shoes yesterday and took out one pair, so now I'm only bringing 26. I love shoes.

The things I didn't know if I needed are actually a crate of school supplies - a couple binders, some spiral notebooks, desk stuff, etc. College students do use binders, right?

How many pairs of shoes is enuff to bring? I was thinking for myself 8-10 but i dont know if i want to bring more.

You're bringing stuffed animals but not school supplies? That's hilarious. Leave the stuffed animals at home. You are in college now.

Ya seriously, time to grow up.

No, I am bringing the school supplies. I was just wondering if binders are generally needed, or if people use spiral notebooks and folders more commonly.

hey im bringing one stuffed animal too named Bunny. Shes like as old as me! so im bringing her...oh man talk about sounding like a total loser haha.

I guess guys are different. My son will bring 2 prs of sneakers, flip flops, 1 pair of casual/dress shoes, and 1 pair of sport specific shoes. That's it.

this was the first thing you thought of? sicko

beastar, bring the school supplies you'll use and you like to have to keep you organized. If you're a binder person, bring binders. Otherwise, forget about them. Nobody cares what school supplies you use in college.

Hey.. stuffed animals are great. It's just I think you're bringing wayyy too many. =)

School supplies.. I've got tons of pens, notebooks, carrying case for papers for class, paper rack for papers not used in class, probably one or two accordian folders to keep track of labs + old papers + assessments, printer ink + cords, laptop cords, power strip, one or two lightbulbs, some paper, a pencil holder type of multi use thing for holding scissors, tape, etc. on my desk, a cd rack, a planner/calendar.. It's getting kind of random but that's what I can think of right now.

Personally, it doesn't sound like you're taking too much, but do you know the dimensions of your dorm room? If you do, or can find out, that should help put things into perspective. I'm bringing two garbage bags of bedding/towels/a robe/ pillows, a mini garbage can chock full of 'neccessity items' like band-aids and toothpaste (etc etc) a fan, a mini fridge, my laptop, and a couple more garbage bags of clothes and other stuff.

I am probably overpacking but once I am at school I am going to be on a pretty limited allowance, at least compared to what I have been making working this summer. I thought it would make more sense financially to go ahead and buy everything I think I will need now, when I have the time to look around for the best prices, than realize I need something at school and have to buy it on campus at a ridiculous price. Of course, this probably don't apply to kids who are bringing their cars.

I haven't started packing clothes yet because I don't have a massive wardrobe and I wear most of my clothes. I think that will be the most last-minute thing for me. Pretty much everything else for my room like towels, bedding, school supplies, etc. has already been packed into crates.

One thing I am definitely procrastinating about is getting my room at home in order for leaving. I have a bunch of drawers overflowing with junk, and since I won't be here for the majority of the next nine months I need to make my room more organized. I think it will make the transition to my dorm room easier if my old room is cleaned out.

Jibberol, maybe you need to grow up a little. Bringing condoms with you is responsible.

About the stuffed animals - I will bring my lifesize rottweiler puppy stuffed animal. Its soft and comforting and I like it.

Am I the only person that is bringing all of their clothes to college? I'm not one of those girls that has tons and tons of clothes. I have about 6 pairs of jeans, about 15 casual shirts...I only own enough casual clothes for about two weeks. I'm bringing it all in two suitcases.

I'm bringing basically all my clothes. I'm just leaving a couple of old sweatshirts and t-shirts. It sounds like I have about as many clothes as you, too.

And I, too, will have a limited amount of money to spend once I get there. And I suppose if I bring anything that doesn't fit in my room, my dad can always drive it back home.

Since I'm coming from out of state, I'm just gonna be packing my small things such as clothes and basic necessities. The other larger items like refrigerators and lamps, my parents told me to order off an online store and have them ship it to lerner. The shipping cost may be a little high, but it will definately be lower than UPS or Fedex. Beats taking all that stuff there yourself.

lmao I have about 4 boxes of stuff, 3 of which are clothing... my desktop, my laptop... basically everything I own... <_<

all you need is a dektop/notebook computer, the clothes on ur back, a wallet, and 1 change of clothes. And maybe a towel.

I'm surprised at how little people are bringing! I don't even want to think about how much I have bought.. agh. And I'm sure I'll spend even more when I find out where I'm living/who my roommate or roommates are, because I still don't know. I am going far away though, if that's any excuse.
