Am I ready for the MCAT this summer?

I am biochemistry major halfway through the second semester of my sophomore year (I am a junior credit-wise, though). My freshman year, I took General Biology and General Chemistry. This year, I am taking Organic Chemistry and Physics. This year, I have also worked as a GB lab TA and grader, as well as a GChem TA and tutor. I am also taking Quantitative Chem Analysis, which has served as good GChem review as well.

I know that I have to ask myself if I feel that I'm ready, of course, but would someone in my position typically take the MCAT this summer, or should I wait a year to get a few more biologies under my belt?

Thanks!

Yes, you are ready provided that you have time to study.

Are you planning to prep for test? Did you take practice test to see where you are? D. has taken couple practice tests and found them exceptionally difficult. She is also taking MCAT in 3 months. She is taking Kaplan prep. class and studying a lot on her own. She knows her weaknesses and focusing on them. Self -evaluate yourself, you would know better.

You’ve taken all the classes necessary, so you’d be fine to take it this summer, as long as you’re studying for it. Just taking the classes probably isn’t enough, you really want to study using kaplan/princeton review/berkeley review/exam krackers, etc or to take a prep class like miamiDAP. Most people spend 2-4 months doing intensive studying… there’s always that one guy who studies for two weeks and rocks it, but definitely don’t assume that guy will be you.

^ That’s the impression I got after D’s comment on MCAT difficulty. She is also tutoring GChem (which involves sitting in class 3rd time), she feels good about this part, but it is still very hard test.
