I am conditionally exempt from csu math placement test. I have to pass my math class with a c- or higher. I am currently takin AP calculus. If i get a 70% for the semester(10 points added already) , is it considered a D or C since it’s an ap course.
The percent and letter in the course are not affected by the fact that it is AP, it only affects the calculation of your gpa
If the 70% equals a D grade, then that is not passing and does not meet the C- requirement regardless if it is an AP course or not. What is the % scale at your school?
Regular class semester grade
A= 90-100
B= 80-89
C= 70-79
D= 60-69
F= below 60
Honors/ AP - semester grade
A= 100-110
B= 90-99
C= 80-89
D= 70-79
F= below 70
So if your grade according to the scale is a D, then you have more issues than just qualifying for an exemption on the ELM test. Provisional admission to the CSU’s require that you pass all a-g courses Senior year with a C or higher. Depending upon which CSU you plan to attend, you need to contact admissions and find out what kind of options you have regarding your grade. For some CSU’s it may no be a problem but for others, they may require you attend a summer session for Math or possibly rescind your acceptance. I would try everything possible to get that grade up into the C range by year’s end.
Thank you for always providing me information! I appreciate all your help!
