Am I screwed? What will happen?

I took the ACT this saturday, and felt pretty decent about it.

However, at the end, when the proctor was collecting packets, everybody was hushed whispering to each other about how they felt about the test. I too breathed a sigh of relief and asked my friend how he did and so on, all while the proctor was collecting.

Then, the girl in front of me turns around and tells us to cut it out, as if they thought we were sharing answers or something. I honestly don't even know - she was probably going through hard times: pressure from ACT and had crutches and could barely walk.

Anyways, after the exam was all done and we could leave. I was cleaning dirt off my jacket and noticed she was going up to the proctor. As I left, I heard her ask to check if her answer sheet had her name on it, and then I walked out the door.

However, I noticed it took a good 3-4 minutes for her to leave and room, and 3-4 minutes later, both her and the proctor left the room.

Do you guys think she reported my friend and I for cheating when we clearly did not? The proctor collected IDs with our pics and we were both aiming for 35 plus or minus 1 composite scores so our answers were probably mostly the same (you can only miss a few questions and get a 34+...)

Do you guys think that she reported my friend and I? The proctor didn't notice or get mad or anything. In fact, I helped the proctor when he didn't know where we had to write our essays, LOL. I felt I did pretty well this time, definitely better than my 33.25 from September. Are my friend and I screwed? I'm applying to UC's Nov 30 and really can't retake...

Again, proctor didn't notice anything. The girl just seemed mad and talked to the proctor for 3-4 minutes after the exam, and then they both left the room together. Do you guys think we'll get in trouble for doing something we didn't do?

I'm worried as H E L L here, and can't stop thinking about it. I think I did really well and seriously don't want my scores cancelled. Can anyone provide some insight into the situation?

I think that if you haven’t gotten a call or been emailed by now, you should be okay. But that’s just my 2 cents. What do others think?

Feeling a bit better, no contact yet.

Can anyone please pitch in their thoughts? I’m still really stressed out. BUMP!

You are overreacting. Just chillax

You are screwed

I’m not a lawyer, but I don’t believe a proctor could do anything based on hearsay–and I think he would have spoken to you if he felt suspicious. He may have been trying to calm the hysterical girl, trying to contain the situation rather than get others involved. I wouldn’t worry. Best of luck on your scores!!

If the proctor didn’t write you up, you are fine. No one at ACT is going to take the word of some other student unless – on the spot – the proctor confronted you and wrote you up. Otherwise, it would be a free for all with students accusing one another of cheating in order to get their peers scores reviewed or cancelled. ACT won’t stand for that. Do not worry in the least.

Wow, that really helps. I was out of the room by the time the girl went up to talk to the proctor. In addition, I’m not even sure if I was reported. When I was leaving, she asked to double check her name on the packet but it could be BS just cause she knew I was still in the room. I soon left after that though, but it took her 3-4 minutes to come out, along with the proctor.
