I got reported for cheating? HELP!!!!

Hi, I took ACT for the third and last time this sat.

During the first break time( after english and math), everybody came into the room while 2-3 min of break time were left.

My friend suddenly turned to me and mumbled the words while writing words on my booklet that I didnt understood or heard. (My friend's seat was right in front of me, so she turned back and did that when proctor was in front of the class)

So, the proctor saw her/us, and came to us and saw the words on my booklet. Like i said above i didnt understand or could read or translate the words on my booklet.

I still dont know what she was trying to talk to me or write about.

Though I told him that I dont know anything what she was doing/ talking,

he wrote her name and my name on the paper and reported both of us.

I feel like i am suffering unfairness.

If getting reported, does it mean that my score would be canceled for sure?

the proctor said the ACT would review the case and decide whether to cancel or not.

But does ACT really consider/review the case or just cancel whoever is reported?

And if I want to complain this, how should I do it?

And the fact that I feel so much frustrated is that while he was outside the door reporting us during the test time, somebody's phone vibrated from phone call for1-2 min!

The fact that I have no fault, and somebody surely went against the rule while the proctor was reporting about me and my friend makes me so mad...

HELP ME how to fix this situation.

P.S if ACT review the case, does it mean the score would be delayed?

I fear you are pretty much hosed. By the time this all gets settled out, and even assuming it works out in your favor, the test scores will be so late as to not matter.

so it does mean that score will be late even though I contact the ACT center early and try to fix this…damn…that means that I have to stick to my score 29

Just say “Let’s not make this a race issue and slam your hands down on the desk, and then walk out.”

Um, What moron and their friend communicate via booklet during the most important test of their academic lives…? That’s on you, have fun getting out of that…

Didn’t u read that I didn’t communicate and my friend is the one who wrote on my booklet on her own? Thanks for calling me moron and telling me such a nice thing ^^ u moron

What exactly happened, who did it, who did not, what the intent was… all of that probably does not matter. You need to regard the test as having zero impact on your application.

Beat the **** out of your friend. Honestly. But yeah those getting overturned are rare

^^^Yeah, but you let her write on your booklet which is enough to get you caught for cheating and your score invalid, have a nice life. :D

You don’t have to be rude, Parhaitiy. It’s unfortunate that this happened, and I hope that your score isn’t canceled. I know my (Asian, lol) friend was reported for “cheating” on the SAT because she didn’t listen to the proctor, maybe she didn’t understand lol, and moved onto the next section(s) when she wasn’t supposed to. CollegeBoard did not cancel her scores, as they weren’t really that great anyways. She wasn’t cheating, she just misunderstood.

Your score will be delayed, I can tell you that (or at least that’s a strong possibility), and I assume that if you’ve taken the ACT before, they will look at your scores and see if there’s any huge improvement. They may also look at the words, or whatever you wrote/she wrote and see if there’s any evidence of cheating. I assume they’ll let it go, but if they don’t, I’m very sorry. I’d take the ACT in January again if you desperately need another ACT score, and feel you can score much higher. Schools don’t usually recommend it, but I think they will accept the scores. Good luck!!

Also, I’d recommend sending ACT a letter explaining your side of the story. Admit that you recognize that it was stupid for your friend to be writing on your booklet, and acknowledge that you’ll understand if your scores are canceled, but tell them that you truly weren’t cheating. Something like that. Or call them. Just contact them some way.

Thanks for all helpful advising. They are really relieving me now even though my score could get canceled. And for Parhaity, idk why u are wasting ur time trying to make fun of other person’s misfortune. I wonder ur sick sadistic hobby will make ur life happy. If u r having good life, then good for u but other people think that u r one of the unique 1% of people in society who disrupt the society and make other people uncomfortable. If u like to criticize me then keep doing that. And let’s see what other people who see ur comment think. U take care of ut own life.

Ask your friend why and what she wrote.
