So this year I'm in grade ten at a new school (much, much tougher than my old school... I felt behind in math and science when I got here) in Canada and I'm taking grade 11 advanced math (I took grade 10 last year and skipped the grade 9 course). Yeah... I'm failing. :|

On my first report card (based on two tests and one quiz), I got a 67. :( The next report card comes out in February, but I have two weeks of break this month. I don't understand how this is happening! First I was just behind and my teacher and GC told me not to worry about it because now I'm caught up. But SOMEHOW I'm still failing! I'm pretty sure I haven't gotten above 80 on any tests after that... wow. The first report card mark gets deleted but it is cumulative. So I'm pretty much screwed.

I don't get what's going on. I understand all of them material PERFECTLY on the test, which the teacher makes so insanely hard. Today I had a quiz and he only gave us 5 minutes to do it. Before the bell rang. I was late for my next class. I don't get it! He said that if it took us 10 minutes to do this quiz, we'd get destroyed on Thursday's test. So I'm pretty much going to die, right?

No other teacher is this tough! I want to switch out of his class and go to another section, but they don't let us do that... maybe I can talk to my GC, though. But she'll probably tell me to drop down from advanced to regular academic. :(

But would Harvard take into consideration that I took an advanced grade 11 math class in grade 10 coming from a much less challenging school? Or should I just drop down to academic? They want to see that you've taken the most challenging courses, right? Plus if I drop to academic my entire schedule will be messed up.

If I can get through this year with a 70 in math, should I redo the course in summer school to upgrade my mark?
Next year I will be taking AP Calc and I know that none of the teachers who teach that course are crazy like this guy.
I've already confirmed that I can take a math class at my local university in grade 12, as I will be done high school math by the end of grade 11.

So will a 70 hurt me really, really badly if I choose to apply to Harvard, if all of my other marks are 90+ (actually probably 94+) in grade ten? If I retake the class in summer school, it will show up on my transcript that I retook it, but would that be better than just taking the 70?

Thanks. :] I'd really appreciate any information/help.
