Am I screwed?

Hi all,

I am a South Asian senior in New Jersey. I am extremely concerned right now, as I am applying to several top-tier schools with a sub-par CV.

Is it possible for me to get into a really good school like Penn? Or do I have to go to a safety?

Let me just say, you’re applying to so many schools that it seems like you just want to go to a good school (and likely don’t care about any other aspect of the process). The likelihood you’d have a happy 4 years at all of these is very slim, but I wish you luck with Penn (because you obviously love it). Don’t hate me, but I think it’d be smarter of you to apply only to schools you love (not schools US News loves).

University of Pennsylvania School of Arts and Sciences (Early Decision)- decent chances

California Institute of Technology (EA), Massachusetts Institute of Technology (EA)- unlikely (but still possible)

University of Chicago (EA)- depends entirely on your essays. If your essays were good, you’re in.

University of Michigan- likely acceptance

HYPS, Columbia- acceptance very unlikely. But hey; you never know.

UC Berkeley- fairly likely acceptance

Rutgers New Brunswick (RD)- very likely acceptance

NYU (RD)- likely acceptance

You’re a good applicant. Best of luck.

Dont be so harsh on yourself man! Your credentials are absolutely amazing. I have a TON of friends at UPENN, and they all love it. And I know you will too, I honestly think you can easily get in. I’d be extremely surprised if you did not get in. Chance me please!

Lol thanks for the input, guys!

Ugh, I got deferred from Penn ED. What are my chances RD?

At A & S about 12%.

Judging from your other posts, you seem like a very informed source. Is the college list I have above realistic? My school does not rank.
