im trying to apply to private colleges and most applications are due 1/1/06.
previously, i have taken some classes from local colleges but i didnt send the transcripts yet. the local colleges are closed now and i can only send the transcripts after they open, which is after the deadline.
what should i do? despair?

You should send the transcripts as soon as you can, since that is the best you can do at this point. If you have grade reports for those classes, you might also xerox them and include them with the application - some schools accept xeroxes while waiting for the official reports.

It says on the Common App to send them as soon as possible. My college class ended Dec 21st, and grades are due Jan 3rd. I'll just request a transcript then and send it off. It won't be that big a deal.

If you only took college classes in your senior year, I don't see a problem including that with your mid year report, since those are supposed to show senior grades.

First of all are you getting high school credit for these courses? If yes, then they will be on your high school transcript and and your GC will send it with your mid year report.

IF not, you will have to wait until the grades are posted (as at some schools final grades are not posted because students just finished school and the administrative offices are closed).

If your final grade is posted you can have a copy of your transcript forward to the school which you are applying to. In fact many schools will let you do this on line with a credit card (if they charge for the service), some schools (Cornell) will allow you to fax your request to the registrars office and indicate where you need the transcript mailed. Still other schools make you come to the registrars office, fill out the form and they then mail it to the school.

Right now the most important thing is to make sure that you submit the information which you have control over on time. The college application, pre-application paperwork, essays etc. Schools do grant professional courtesies to each other and to GC's, but can be a bit unforgiving if the student does not get their part in.

good luck.
