Hey CC.
I’m a senior taking a fairly hard course load (4 APs and one honors course). I’m already into my ED school (Franklin & Marshall) and I was wondering how much breathing room I have on my grades. I got my best grades of HS in the first quarter, but I had a slip of some 15 points in two classes in the second quarter. Am I screwed or will they understand?
You haven’t provided any specifics concerning your mid-year grades. However, a frequently used generalization is no Fs or Ds, no suspensions or expulsions, and no felonies or misdemeanors.
Well no I’ve done nothing illegal. My drops were from an 88 in physics to a 75 and from a 93 to a 78 in ap comp
I would presume those are still C’s? If so, you’re probably okay; however, no D’s or F’s!
Does it makes any difference that these are quarter grades and not semester grades?
It depends on what your school sends out on your transcripts. My school only sends semester grades (no quarters grades and no semester final test grades), so I only have to worry about my semester grades. Check your transcripts or ask your guidance counselor what will show on your transcript.
I think you’re fine
If you are worried, you can send a note or call admissions. Let them know you are struggling in two classes but have confidence you will pick up the grade for the 2nd half of the year. You can do this to make yourself feel better-if you tend to fret unnecessarily. But I think it is unnecessary.
Ok thank you! And I’ll be alright if I’ve got two other grades in the 80s and one in the 90s, plus good midterm exam grades?
You are fine and don’t have to say anything to the school. Top Tier nailed it.
