After several weeks of following my guidance counselor’s advice to “wait it out” and continuously rechecking the portal to find that my mid-year has not been received by Yale, I managed to convince to her to completely ascertain that the office had sent my report in by checking her sending history. Unfortunately, it turned out that the report was uploaded but not submitted to two of my RD colleges: Duke and Yale. Do you think this will affect my admission decision if my counselor sends it in immediately and I e-mail the regional admissions officers telling them about my situation? None of the two colleges have contacted me personally requesting my mid-year report. Thanks.
Did it screw you? Truthfully, if it was going to make a difference, they would have called your GC for the missing document. What does that mean? Either you were a shoo-in without it or you were passed by, without it. Basically you were already in or you were already screwed without the uploaded mid-yr document.
I know this doesn’t make you feel any better but the missing doc (without requests by those two ridiculously selective colleges) most likely, will not affect your outcome. Have your GC send it and apologize regardless.
@T26E4 Thanks for the response. Would an e-mail like this be fine?
Dear ***,
I am **, a student from the and a RD applicant to Yale’s Class of 2019. I received your e-mail from my guidance counselor, ***, who advised me to contact you.
On March 16, my guidance counselor informed me that she realized my mid-year report was uploaded onto the school system but, unintentionally and unfortunately, was never submitted by her. When my portal still displayed that my mid-year report was not received, she originally advised me to wait it out, stating that Yale was probably still sorting out the materials and also that it did not seem to be an issue as Yale did not contact me about the missing document. After waiting a few weeks and noticing that the report was still “not received”, I convinced my counselor to check her sending history, where she discovered that the report was not sent. My counselor sent the report immediately after she was aware of the situation.
As the decision deadline is coming to a close, I realize that any last-minute updates like this are troublesome and I would firstly like to apologize greatly. I hope that you will still consider my application for Yale despite this problem and hope that it does not become a judgment of my character. Yale is my top-school, and because I spent months and much energy crafting my application, it is disappointing and frustrating that something like this could happen. I pray that this can be resolved.
Thank you for all the help and the time you have spent throughout the college application process. I really appreciate it. Please message me if you need any more clarification.
Sincerely,
I think that’s a little long. Do they need to read that much? Do they have time to?
Don’t they have 35,000 applicants? I’m not sure they have time to read this!
Got my response from Yale. Thanks guys.
***,
I hope this message finds you well. Thank you for making us aware of this unique situation. I will review your midyear report once it is indexed into your profile.
Best,
Daniel
Glad it worked out @nategunawan. Thanks for updating, and best wishes when decisions come out!
