Am I screwed?

About a month ago, well after I had submitted my Common Application to all my regular decision schools, I realized I had not taken off an attachment left over from my Stanford Early Action Common Application. Now, when all the colleges look at my Common App, (if they look at the very last page) they can see "Stanford University Early Action". It's nothing too damaging, like a wrong essay, just one line in my entire application. But now everyone knows I applied to, and was either rejected or deferred from my first choice, Stanford. (I was deferred, FYI).

I've really been hitting myself over the head about this. My college counselor tried to downplay it, saying that it's understood by many colleges that many applicants apply to other schools for EA/ED, and that sometimes teachers forget to change the college names in their recommendations. However, I suspect he might just be keeping me from tearing all my hair out. So am I really screwed, or is he right?

You're fine. Why would they reject you for applying to Stanford?

well a safety might reject you because they see stanford and think, oh, we're just his safety.

i agree with green1, i don't think it's a big deal at all...

p.s. they would have no way of knowing what happened with your stanford decision...you could have gotten accepted and still apply to other schools since its EA, not ED

^I agree... they could end up wanting you to pick them over Stanford.

lol its starting to sound more like a smart move than anything else.

Thanks for the responses, I feel a little better. I was just concerned they wouldn't look too kindly that I had already virtually designated my "first choice" school, (stanford). I know what you're talking about, Senioritis, I was referring to slightly less selective schools (like Amherst, Williams, Bowdoin, Middlebury, Penn, Dartmouth, Duke, Cornell). I don't want them to think I consider them a "safety" school...even though I totally do not.
