I just got my rejection from SDSU :( not too sad because it was one of my backups but I thought it was kind of a safety for me

gpa: 3.8 unweighted
SAT: 2070
Hook: URM, first generation college
extras:3 years Varsity cheer, senior class v.p.

anyways, if i got rejected from SDSU does that mean I should pretty much give up hope for the UCs which come out later this month?

I am seriously in shock that you got rejected! have you ever been in any trouble at school? anything that would cause this?

but please dont worry about the UCs I could see you getting into quite a few easily. Im sorry!

Don’t fret!

My friend was accepted to Yale and Georgetown and didn’t get into SDSU! It happens quite often actually.

SDSU gets about 30,000 applicants a year! Sometimes they reject the good ones…

you are obviously over-qualified for SDSU level, so they would rather turn you down first to save the slot for a more fit student than you turn them down later.

Your stats look good! You will have no problem getting into UCs!

@ Cheyenne: nope i’ve never done anything bad (i.e. suspensions or anything of that sort)
@ erik & dilettante: thanks guys i hope so! i’m just hoping this isn’t foreshadowing what’s to come later this month =X

SDSU got over 60,000 applications this year and only had 6000 spots due to ridiculous budget cuts in california, but like dilettante said you are obviously over-qualified. However, your stats look perfect for a majority of the UC’s, especially your SAT.
What UC’s did you apply to?

Nope, you’re not screwed. I got rejected from SDSU graphic design, but got into Cal Poly SLO graphic communications. 3.5 CSU GPA, 1900 SAT. I’ve only heard back from UC Riverside so far, but I got in, which I suppose would be a good sign. It doesn’t really matter because I’ve committed to Cal Poly, but I’m just letting you know you don’t necessarily have to worry.

yeah maybe it’s partially luck of the draw because i do have a friend with similar stats as myself and she got into SDSU but not Slo, & i’m the opposite (got into SLO, but not SDSU).

as far as UCs go, I only applied to LA, Berkeley, & SB.
i know that LA & Berkeley are difficult to get into but i’m an optimist and I’m just trying to stay positive until I have a reason not to be :)
