Am I the only one??

Is anyone else so overwhelmed and stressed out that you’re lying in bed crying your eyes out when you should be sleeping, or am I the only one?? :(( :((

I can promise you that you are not the only one. That is what your campus counseling center is for. Call them today or go there and see if they have walk in appointments.

It’s just all the ramp up to finals. All the stress and pressure. That and the fact that by nature I am just more emotional than most guys. I apparently have my mom’s DNA when it comes to emotions…lol. Very easy for me to get started crying and then hard to stop once I do start. My mom is the same way. I’ll be okay. Just needed to let it all out for a while.

100% guarantee you are not the only one. Checking in with campus counseling services will help. It won’t fix everything immediately, but it can set you on a better, calmer, path. (And if your first visit doesn’t help, try again.)

porcupine98, sounds like you may be now or may have been in the past where I was this morning. I feel better now. I think I just needed to cry it all out. Thank you though for your kind words and suggestion.

One of the great discoveries in life is when you realize that you are rarely, if ever, the only one feeling the way that you do- and that there are a lot of people who have come out the other side and are ready to put a hand out help you through it too. USE the help that is there.

(and, just for a contrary point of view: consider that maybe a good crying session is actually a perfectly ok way to let out all the overwhelmed feelings- like a good rainstorm clearing the air and leaving everything fresh and ready to grow.- maybe you can turn it into a positive?)

I also have been super stressed out from finals my brain is like will you rest for a minute but you got to push on and your not the only one me and all my friends from school all break down right before finals

collegemom3717, I couldn’t agree more that crying is a great way to relieve stress and overwhelmed feelings. I just wish it would happen some time other than when I need to be sleeping :). I’m glad I’m able to cry when I need/want to. Thank you so much for the encouragement.

Another vote for a stop at the college counseling center (my millennial D1 refers to it as “going in for s tuneup”). Even if it is just finals stress, it might be a good idea. Also – everything always seems worse in the middle of the night!

Nope. I’ve been on anti-anxiety/anti-depressants since my early teens and I still do this occasionally.

Honestly, I don’t believe most people if they say they haven’t had at least one crying session during college.

Things do seem worse in the middle of the night, that is for sure. And I agree, unless someone is just completely lifeless on the inside, they had to have had at least one crying session during college. I personally don’t see any shame in admitting it. It’s called being human and having emotions.

I cried a lot Saturday, but it had little to do with school. My grandfather passed away when I was 15. We were very close. He would have been 74 Saturday and I was just missing him and thinking about him. I cried myself to sleep Saturday night. Honestly, I’m crying now as I type this. I’ll be okay. I just miss him…A LOT!

Def go to the College Counseling Center…you may find that they have stress reducing activities this time of year like cuddling puppies or meditation events or look for other on campus activities.
