Am I too late for the AP

I'm junior. I want to take some AP exams to increase the chance of getting to some well-known colleges but right now I'm not taking any AP courses at schools. Should I take the AP exams in senior year when the application deadline is over? does that help me somehow???

Colleges see what classes you’re taking as a senior. They like to see that you’re challenging yourself. So I’d definitely suggest taking some AP classes if you qualify and then take the corresponding AP tests. Taking the classes is probably more important than the tests.

Really ? My friend told me that I can take some AP courses in senior year, but it’s too late for the AP exams because the college application is due before the AP tests. So the score I get from the AP exams do not help me much since in May the college will have sent the acceptance to me. However I will take some AP classes, but my school do not offer Chem and Phy. :(

There are distance learning classes for most AP subjects.

At this point, just take the AP courses. Schools ask for a mid-year report and see the courses you are taking (and your grades in these courses) senior year.

In addition, some colleges will ask which AP tests you are planning to take in May. You don’t have to send in your AP score report until maybe June or July.
