Am I understanding rolling admissions (hypothetical situation)

Okay, let’s say I’m equally torn between two schools. School A has an application deadline of January 15th. I’m confident I’ll get accepted to School A, although obviously it’s not a completely done deal. At School B (which has rolling admissions), I’m applying to their most competitive program, and although I have a very good shot at getting in, I want to get my application in as soon as possible. BTW School B’s deadline is sometime in December, but I would submit my application as soon as they start accepting them.

So what happens if I get accepted to School B soon after I apply but I won’t hear back from School A for months? Do I really have to decide between School A and School B right then and there, before I even know for sure I’ll get in School A?

I hope that makes sense…lol…I’m kind of confused :stuck_out_tongue:

no, you do not need to let school B know until May 1st.

You really need to check what type of deposit you need to make to school A and what the refund policy is. I know that some schools require as little as $100. which is fully refundable. It may be a good investment to lock in your school A housing and que for registration if that is how it works. I know that some rolling schools are like this. Purdue I think works this way. So....call the admissions office and find out the details of how to secure your offer....with refund info questions also.
