Am I understanding this correctly?

From what I've gathered from the websites for BU, American and Syracuse, if a student does not get accepted by audition into the theater departments, then it isn't really possible to major in theater and be involved on an extracurricular basis. Is this correct? Thanks.

At Syracuse it is correct that if you are not accepted by audition into the Department of Drama you cannot major in drama, nor can you take the performane classes taken by the Acting and Musical Theatre majors in the Drama Department.

In terms of EC involvement. Only students who are majors in the department of drama (and have successfully completed the first year acting CORE) may audition for mainstage departmental shows. When I was a student there there were a few students who completed CORE and then later switched majors. At that time these students could audition form the mainstage shows, and occassionally were cast. I do not know if this is still the case. I believe that anyone can audition for the student directed shows in the department. However, when I was a student at Syracuse these were mainly cast with students in the department of drama.

There are some extra curricular theatre groups on campus in which non-majors participate. Generally, majors do not participate in these groups.
