Who is going?
Make sure you sign up as soon as possible.
Not sure if I want to go yet - do spots fill up quickly or something?
Yes, they do not have that many hotel rooms reserved. My D waited a week before responding and the registration was full.
Is there a date published for this event? I haven’t been able to find it easily. TIA
Edited to add: NVM. Just found out it’s April 9-11th.
It basically starts one day before Spring Welcome Day.
@billcsho Any sense of who gets invited? As we discussed re the names attached to scholarships, etc. (thanks again for clarifying that!), D2 received a $20K/year merit scholarship from LSA. But she doesn’t seem to have received an invite to this…
There are several events for selected major scholarships winners. Your D does get one of the major scholarship and may be invited to one of these programs (e.g. Leadership weekend, dinner, etc). This one may even cover your air ticket if requested so for sure not many are invited. The first night will stay in a hotel and last year they have a bowling evening. It includes a private tour to the Big House (Michigan Stadium) that you may even walk and take picture in the field. From the photo last year, there were around a couple dozen students registered and attended. My D missed this event and saw those attended got a UMich backpack too. The second night will stay with a student in the dorm before the Spring Welcome Day campus visit.
Is this strictly for OOS students or in-state as well. If you sign up for an admitted student day would they not invite you? or if you have sent your enrollment deposit already?
@wrights1994 Not a complete answer to your question but my daughter, in-state, received the ABP email invite today. She already attended Campus Day in February, but is not enrolled yet. Unfortunately we have a family wedding to attend April 9-11 so won’t be attending this. Hope you hear good news soon!
thanks @a2zgirls… no email here today. We were not counting on anything besides Regents but it sure would be nice!
@wrights1994 My D is from in state and she got invited to Amaizin’ Blue last year even after we registered for Campus Day. I don’t remember if the invitation was before or after the actual Campus Day though. The Campus Day (admitted student visit) and the Spring Welcome Day (same as the last day for Amazin’ Blue) were 2/3 identical. We attended both within 2-3 weeks. It seems the invitation got sent out a little bit later this year presumably due to the delay in the admission process.
My D received the invite and was told she was a scholarship recipient. Are only scholarship recipients invited to this?
We were told we were one of 5 from the Art & Design school who will be attending. We are OOS and have heard nothing except how difficult it is to get scholarships. I am hoping that we don’t get our hopes up and then only receive a few thousand dollars.
“I am hoping that we don’t get our hopes up and then only receive a few thousand dollars.” You need to understand how this sounds when there are thousands that would love to receive a few thousand dollars.
Or an offer of admission
Sorry if I offended you. She will not be able to attend if we do not get the out of state at least partially offset and I hope that she does not get her hopes up only to have us be unable to make the finances work for our family. I must not have conveyed this thought well in my prior entry.
I think only major scholarship winners would be invited. OOS student may expect $20k per year.
Thanks - this is good to know.
@billcsho, my D has received an invite for this Amazing Blue Preview. We are OOS and wondering whether it is worth the trip since we already visited in January. Any idea about how the scholarships? Do they invite students who have already been offered scholarships? Or is this something different?
She should be one of the scholarship winner. The Amazing Blue Preview is something extra to a campus visit. The Spring Welcome Day right after the Amazing Blue Preview is just another campus visit. The Amazing Blue Preview include a hotel stay with special programs such as a private tour to the big house (aka the Michigan Stadium). The hotel room availablity is very limited and your D should response as soon as possible.
