You can only skip 131...

so u can take quest orgo. i hope they have that because I AM NOT taking another intro chem class. i looked at the 132 website, and there's nothing new there. im definitely talking to the guy in charge of the chem deparment if they dont have quest orgo.

Yeah, you can take quest orgo... They will always have it b/c they have a lot of pride in their quest program...
ChemAddict... Are you going to major in chemistry? Here are all the course requirements and it doesn't look like you'll have to take 132... Being that you seem to like a challenge you'll just have to take more 200 level classes...
http://www.chem.rochester.edu/Undergraduate/Degr_Req.html

yes, im planning to major in chem. which is why i've take 3 years of it, lol. but im beginning to consider a second major in physics (don't tell me that's ridiculous and would require an ungodly amount of work, i can guess)

anyone planning on taking or has taken 173Q math?

By the way I'm a physics, math, and CS major. lol and like chemaddict, I'm also gearing up for an ungodly amount of work. But I'm not ye tsure if it will be at URochester or CMU.

if I end up choosing going to UR, I must definitely take 173Q Math.

I love Math, and like challenges!!!

behappy do u think theres any way t otest out of 173Q. I think I read somewhere that it basically ordinary differntial equations. I selfstudied multivariable and differential equations, but I'm not sure if I'll be able to bypass 173Q or 174Q. To the current URochester students, have you or someone you know bypassed 173 or 174 during their freshman year?

I dont think there is any way of bypassing those classes, but im sure u wouldnt mind a few As here and there...

lol yea those couldn't hurt, can't get too much As

I have a feeling I'll be seeing you guys at Rochester next September...can't wait. However, do you think the students there are really competitive for grades? And how is the fitness center there? Do atheletes have separate facilities or are they in the same place? And finally, is there a pingpong club?

I know when I took the tour during the Spring Open Campus, they said that athletes have their own facilities so you won't be lifting weights next to an athlete who's benching 300 lbs, haha.

You can't skip out of 173... Although it is differential equations and you may know differential equations, the 170 series is not the math that you are used to...

ChemAddict... It probably pretty possible (Welcome to Rochester! :)) You seem like the kid who has a billion AP credits which will help alot... Make sure you do well on AP Physics C, AP Calc BC, etc.
If it is possible for me to get a BS and a BA with the BS being engineering, you can definately do BS BS (the only thing you will have to pay a slight more money for the dual degree, but it will be worth it...)

ha, i wish i was one of the AP credit freaks. no room for that with IB. im taking AB calc in hopes of skipping a semester of math, but i haven't taken the class, so i don't know how that'll go. but besides that, the only class that i can count from my IB diploma is HL Chem. silly high school, not letting me take math, chem, and physics as my three HL's

http://enrollment.rochester.edu/admissions/ib/creditpolicy.shtm
That link is for your ib scores. I noticed that for chem, that it is not the same as with AP... Make sure you actually contact the department (not admissions or students) to ask about if you can get into 171 (I would think you can though...)

Why would they do that, chemaddict17? I'm personally taking HL math and chem (not physics, my and physics do not get along quite well...)

IB exams in less than a week Frazzle Good luck you btw (and anyone else taking them too)

Bump*
For those interested in seeing pics of the campus that my friends and I took during our visit - here's the shortcut to the links

Awakien, the pictures look really nice! And a DDR machine in a college's common room!?!? =D

Haha, DDR's played soooo damn often. It rocks tho!

Awakien (if you are still around)-- Thank you for posting such great photos, they were really helpful. Rochester is on our S's list, but we haven't visited yet. Did you get the feeling that students utilize the city a lot, or is it a more self-contained campus? Does the city seem safe?
