Hello :) Last year I took the AMC 10 as a Freshman and did not qualify for AIME. Now that I am a Sophomore and am taking the AMC 10 again, is there any way I can prepare that would drastically improve my chances of qualifying?

Also, I may be in the wrong forum, but I saw Mathematics and figured this could be the right place

This would probably be better for the High School Life forum, but whatever.
I mainly just did old tests on AoPS. That helped me improve my score. Try learning the actual concepts in the questions, some of which are not really covered in normal math classes.

Thank you! And I will be sure to post in the right place in the future

^agreed with pumpkinpatch35. Number theory and combinatorics appear quite frequently on the AMCs/AIME, which aren’t usually covered well in high school. Also there are quite a few algebra and geo topics that aren’t covered in standard curricula. I recommend AoPS textbooks, or the book “First Steps for Math Olympians.”

As for preparation, I also did a lot of old AMC 10/12 tests. If you run out, there are mock AMC’s on AoPS, and other countries have similar math contests.

Okay. I ordered The Art of Problem Solving (Volume 1) yesterday. Do you think that will be just as good as First Steps for Math Olympians?

Probably…AoPS materials tend to be more comprehensive.
