AMC 12 American Mathematics Competition

Taking the 12B tomorrow! I just want to qualify for the AIME.

I'm taking it at 1 AM GMT on Thursday (Wed here).

I just want to qualify for AIME, but I've been able to do approximately zero studying. It'll be close.

Taking it tomorrow at 8am....qualifying for AIME would be amazing, but not really expecting it.

Please remember that you may not discuss the AMC with anyone outside your school until Thursday morning. That includes CC, of course. "Discussion" includes scores, difficulty, subject areas, specific problems, pretty much anything besides "I took the test".

I have no idea what to expect...

A few days ago I had an idea for a strategy if you just want to qualify for the AIME. I'll share it on Thursday.

Answer 14 questions, leave the rest blank.

^Close, but no cigar. Answer 18 questions, in case you got one wrong. If you answer a 19th, just guess on 3 others.

I finished the first 12 questions in 25 minutes. Spent the rest of the 50 minutes stalling.

i just ****ed this up so bad. i got a 99 and answered #1 wrong.

Kysuke don't worry about it. It happens. It'll be enough for the next one anyway I think.(for sure if you took the 12a). If you took the 10 then who cares I scored an 88.5 my sophmore year.

if i miss one, i'll be at 103.5

Apparently for this year, you only needed a 97 to qualify.

Woot, I really liked this 12B. Just got to keep studying the AIME and I'm feeling pretty confident about USAMO this year, and then I get to say **** it, since its anyways too late to tell colleges since I'm a senior and i missed by a tiny ass amount last year.

PUTNAM TIME!

got a 105. ill probably bomb the AIME. theres like no chance ill get into USAMO. i havent even started studying for the AIME. so
who knows when we get official results back?
I haven't heard yet.

By teacher showed me an email or something that had my score... Maybe you have to ask...

So we're allowed to post our scores for 12B? I thought people objected last time.

I have a quick question that I know has been asked before but I just have a couple of things extra/different.

How big of a deal is USAMO.. I know it's almost impossible to guarantee admission but how big of a boost would qualifying for it give your resume if you were the only one from your state to qualify and your state sends about 2 kids a year to ivy schools. Assuming gpa is 3.8 with the toughest possible classes and sat is 2250+. this is ed at upenn next year. Oh and ec's are there but nothing special.

Sparknotes: chances at upenn ed if I live in a state that isn't known for **** and have good grades and pretty decent sat scores and ok ec if I qualify for usamo?

So, we're not allowed to go over the questions, right?

USAMO is a great accomplishment and would significantly boost your chances at any school, btw what was your amc score?
