My sister is interested in this school for MT and she is auditioning soon. Do SATs matter, because I am predicting she will be below average? She has no MT background - she is a great dancer. Her dance teachers are saying she will get in, but I hear this is a scam of a place to study, and I would not hesitate to think this. It scares me that my parents are going to pay for that school, when it really just seems to be a way for lower-end applicants to get in somewhere. Any info on this? She hates school too. She will take classes and pass, but I was looking up what she would have to take, and some schools require literature courses where she would have to read actual plays and other works. She doesn't do this now...do most MT majors do this as prep before applying? She is making me concerned she is throwing away her future on something she has no chance at.

SATs do not matter at AMDA. And, yes it probably is an easier admit than most college programs.

MT majors have to act too, so yes they do read plays and musicals, both as prep and once they are in school. If your sister doesn’t like reading plays or musicals perhaps she shouldn’t go into MT. Maybe just dance?
And she needs to sing too of course. Does she sing?

Just throwing this out there. I have had three or four former students attend AMDA and ALL have dropped out after one semester. One dropped out after three weeks. Do your research. The advertising is phenomenal, but I am not sure the quality is.
