Amenities at Vanderbilt

Hi, I'm beginning to consider my college options, and I have a few questions for students at Vanderbilt:

Are there co-ed dorms? By floor or by section? Co-ed bathrooms?

Is there air conditioning? How spacious are dorms? How prevalent is WiFi?

How is the food?

freshman dorms are coed, but single sex by floor.

there is air conditioning and room size depends on which house you get. Wireless access is basically all over campus.

Food is good. You’ll probably get a little tired of it though after a while.

The Freshman dorms are the best on campus.

Amenties wise, Vanderbilt does a great job in my opinion.

I’m not a Vandy student, but I toured there in October. The dorms were nice i.e. high ceilings, clean walls/floors, good common area. But, compared to other schools I have visited (and I have done a bazillion and one college tours,) the rooms and closets–which weren’t even really closets, if I remember correctly–were prettttttty small. Plus, all bathrooms are communal.
Also, this may not concern you as much as it did me, but freshmen can’t have cars on campus. I know people say you do not need them, but I am super independent and don’t like the feeling of being stuck anywhere at anytime.
These aren’t reasons not to attend, though! Maybe just some things to consider if you get to a point where you’re choosing between two colleges of equal academic caliber (kudos to you if you find yourself in that situation!)

Do all freshman stay in the same dorms? Which ones are most preferred?
Thanks!

All freshman live in the Commons which is made of 10 “houses” all in the same general area on Peabody campus. There are a handful of older, restored houses and the rest are very new. I think at first, most want the newer houses (Hank Ingram, Stambuaugh, Sutherland, etc.) but in the end, I don’t think it matters much. They are all nice and that part of campus is beautiful. The commons center and the Dean’s residence is is also there and it is also very nice.

There really isn’t a preferred dorm. They are all very nice. (FOR FRESHMAN THAT IS) Plus, Vanderbilt will put you in a house by random. You have no real say in the matter.

So, point is, you will be living in a nice dorm your freshman year on The Commons at Vanderbilt if you decide to come here.

After that, it isn’t as nice though, but still, pretty good.
