American Education in the middle east

Hi All,

Came across this NOW report on PBS last night. What surprised me was the mention that middle eastern graduates are getting the very same degree certs as their American counterparts. Their degrees do not mention the location but simply mention the name of the school.

It strikes me as odd since the pool of students, the competition within, the diveristy of a school, nor the caliber of students can equal their counterparts in the US, yet their degrees do not differentiate whether the degree was gained in Cornell US or Cornell Quatar.

Wonder what their chances for US residencies are after MDs in the middle east? Comments anyone?

Ooops the link

Education City: American Universities Abroad . NOW on PBS

I don't know if anyone knows how residency directors will respond to students who graduated from Cornell's medical school in Qatar since I believe only 1-2 classes have actually graduated. They are still considered FMG's so I imagine they will still have a tough time but the Cornell name will probably make them stand out from graduates of no-name foreign med schools.

I couldn't help it :lmao:
