American History

I would appreciate it if anyone could help me compile a list of colleges and universities that require American History for admission.

Thanks! :)

U. C. Berkeley

Do any of them require it?

It would seem that such a requirement would make it impossible to admit international students, since many of those kids would not have had an opportunity to study American history in high school.

marian:

All UCs require either one year of US History, or one semester of US History AND one semester of American civics/Govt. If the applicant does not possess the requisite academic (history) classes, s/he coud be eligible for admissions thru test scores only (3550 composite needed from new SAT/ACT+W + 2 Subject Tests)

That's really interesting. Thanks for the information.

I never thought about American History as a requirement for college admission because in my state, it's a requirement for high school graduation, and therefore everyone has it.

I still don't understand how an international student could get into a UC, though. Can a kid from say, China, have an opportunity to study this subject in high school?

as long as an international applicant scores high on the tests (averaging 710+), they are eligible for admission without the course ("a-g") requirements
