Which of these Universities would you prefer for American politics?
I am an austrian exchange student.

Georgetown. Where better to study American politics than in Washington DC?

Georgetown for sure. NYU and U of I are both strong schools, but Georgetown takes the cake when it comes to politics.

Absolutely Georgetown. You won’t find the opportunities for American politics in DC that you’ll find anywhere else.

Illinois Champaign Urbana would be better if you wanted to study the local city council politics of Champaign…or Urbana. Just sayin’…

Georgetown SFS no questions.

Academics: You’re not going to take any courses in the one semester you’re at any of them that will change your life forever, so academics are not a primary factor.

NYU and Illinois have stronger political science programs than Georgetown. Georgetown has the location.

Locations:
NYC: Arguably the most appealing American city for an exchange student. More to see than you could shake a stick at.

DC: Epicenter of American politics. Roughly 2 hours from Philly and 3 hours from NYC.

Urbana/Champagn: College town.

I’d go for NYU or Georgetown, personally, and it’s a toss-up between the two. It would depend on wanting a more traditional campus life (Georgetown) or being comfortable with a highly urban environment (NYU).
